I always loved cardboard, and as a canvas has many advantage, light and strong, textured, neutral backgroound colour and many times free.

Confinement

A lot of time, no where to go… thanks to my iPad I keep busy. I am trying out features that I never used in the drawing app Procreate on iPad.

What to do with a portrait?

Drawing at the library – Dessiner à la bibliothèque

Libraries are changing, adapting to new demands and it is great! My neighborhood library, Benny, gives free drawings sessions, live model or still life. Wonderful idea!

Les bibliothèques changent, s’adaptent à de nouvelles demandes et c’est tant mieux! Ma bibliothèque de quartier Benny   offre des sessions gratuites de dessins, modèle vivant, nature morte. Bonne idée!

Commuting from digital to non-digital art

When I work on the computer or tablet at one point I need to go back to working with my hands. It is two different worlds, as oil painting is from watercolour. I am often asked if I considered working with digital medium art. The answer is “Yes”. It is a medium, a way of expressing myself in a different world and I need both.

Quand je travaille depuis un certain temps sur ordinateur et tablette, j’ai besoin, à un moment de travailler avec mes mains. Ce sont deux mondes différents comme la peinture à l’hule l’est de l’aquarelle. On me demande souvent si je considère le travail digital comme de l’art. La réponse est : Oui. C’est un médium, un moyen de m’exprimer dans un autre monde et j’ai besoin des deux.

Drawing again and again

Drawing again and again to get shapes, lines and volumes in the most natural way possible.

Dessiner encore et encore pour que les formes, les lignes, les volumes viennent instinctivement.

To paint or not to paint?

Once the objects are done, the next question is to paint or not? Painting or applying a finish brings new questions. Why, what, how? An other exploration.

Une fois les objets faits vient la finition. Peindre ou non? Et cela amène de nouvelles questions. Pourquoi, comment et quoi? Une nouvelle exploration.

 

 

Modeler pour dessiner

Modelling an object, a flower, a head helps to draw. It shows how things are done, how they connect, how they stand. So I am experimenting different things for modelling with my workshop participants.

Modeller un objet, une fleur, une tête aide à dessiner. Cela nous montre comment les choses sont faites, comment elles sont rattachées, comment elles tiennent debout. Alors j’expérimente avec différents materiaux pour modeler avec mes participants aux ateliers.

 

In clay, like the head below. Very nice to work with, but the drying is a bit delicate.

En argile, comme la tête ci-dessous. Trés agréable à travailler, le séchage un peu délicat.

 

In air dry model magic by Crayola. Very easy to manipulate,  drying is easy. Below the flowers we did at our last session.

Le model magic séchant à l’air de Crayola. Trés facile à manipuler, séchage facile aussi. Ci-dessous les fleurs que nous avons fait à notre dernère session.
