Above, the original artwork: watercolour, inks, watersoluble pastel Neocolor II on cardboard.
Below, after a few clicks in the computer different versions: black and white, flipped and reverse colour , and the final one flipped and reverse colour with a touch of yellow.

En haut l’original: aquarelle, encres, pastel soluble à l’eau Neocolor II sur carton.
En dessous, après quelques clics a l’ordinateur différentes versions: noir et blanc,  sens et  couleur  inversé, et le dernier sens et couleur inversé avec une touche de jaune.

The sentinels of the garden

I am able to use a picture when I have seen it in real. I know this landscape, having seen it often and even if the picture is not mine I got interested. Drawn on cardboard, the type that is used to ship pictures. The line is due to scanning in two steps.

Je peux me servir d’une photo quand j’ai vu en vrai la scène. Je connais bien ce paysage et bien que la photo ne soit pas de moi elle m’a tout de suite accrochée. Dessiné sur carton, le type utilisé pour envoyer des photos. La ligne du centre est causée pour avoir scanné en deux temps.

I regret not having sketch more as I start to see the benefit of having a selection of your own sketches to work from.

Je regrette de ne pas avoir pris plus de croquis.  Je commence à voir l’avantage d’avoir un bon choix pour travailler d’après ses propres dessins.

The fine black line

“Stop putting a black line around things and coloring inside, you’r not in kindergarten anymore” This comment that gave me an established artist (= exhibiting and selling) pops up from time to time when I start drawing. So, to avoid the kindergarten effect, I do a no-line painting.  And then, as a treat go back to the fine black line.

“Arretez de mettre cette ligne noir autour des objets et de colorier a l’interieur, vous n’êtes plus en maternelle” Ce commentaire que m’a donné un artiste établi (=exposant et vendant) surgit de temps en temps quand je commence un dessin. Alors, pour éviter de me retrouver en  maternelle, je fais donc une aquarelle sans ligne. Et après, à la récré, je laisse cette fine ligne noir courir sur le papier.

The other day, white teddy bears were drifting in the sky.

L’autre jour, de gros nounours blancs dérivaient dans le ciel.

I wanted to add actors and not have deserted scenery. And then I forgot about cars… Time square with no cars, and disciplined people on the sidewalks, a strange vision.

Je voulais avoir des acteurs dans mes paysages, urbains ou non, et en general desertés. Et j’ai complètement oublié les voitures…Time Square, vide, sans voitures et une foule diciplinée sur les trottoirs, une vue étrange.
