Series of mini portraits
With these series of mini portraits, I am trying different ways, markers, pastels, ink and brush. The goal is to simplify, to get the portrait in a few essential lines.
Avec ces séries de mini portraits, j’essaie différentes manières, feutres, pastels, encre et pinceau. Le but est de simplifier, de faire le portrait en quelques lignes essentielles.
Post-it portraits
It’s like jogging, but for the mind. I draw a series of portraits of the same person on post-it notes. The small size forces me to simplicity, going to the essential. I draw directly with markers with no construction lines, hoping to develop an automatism.
The model is Susanne Du Toit, a wonderful artist I discovered through the jkpp group.
C’est comme faire son jogging, mais pour l’esprit. Je dessine une série de portraits de la même personne sur des post-it. La petite dimension me force à la simplicité, à aller à l’essentiel. Je dessine directement aux feutres, sans lignes de constructions, en espérant développer un automatisme.
Le modèle est Susanne Du Toit, une artiste magnifique que j’ai connu grâce au groupe jkpp.

In April I started the day with poetry and a fast sketch to illustrate it. It was a nice way of getting started. In May…back to portraits. It is great to be part of the Julia Kay’s Portrait Party , it gives me access to many photos of artists .
