I think that I relate more to this sporting exploit because of the way it is set. Super athletes in the day to day life, on ordinary roads crossing towns, villages with locals greeting from their front doors. A very different feeling than in a stadium.
It is also the touristic touch added to the TV retransmission that gives this sporting event an other dimension. The camera travels from the cyclists to the people , from the marvels of the area to whatever is eye catching.
And, when I am watching TV, I like to draw on my IPod touch. The portraits are from talk-shows, the last one being Michael Jackson in “This is it”, and yes, a cyclist from le tour de France.

Ce n’est pas tant l’exploit qui m’intéresse que la manière dont c’est fait. Des super athlètes dans le quotidien, sur des routes ordinaires, traversant villes, villages avec les gens du coin les encourageant du pas de leur porte. Une ambiance trés différente que celle du stade.
C’est aussi le coté touristique mis dans la retransmission télévisée qui ajoute une autre dimension au spectacle. La camera nous balade du peloton à la foule, des merveilles de la région à tout ce qui est digne d’intérêt.
Et, quand je regarde la télé, j’aime dessiner sur mon iPod touch. Les portraits sont de talk-shows, le dernier: Michael Jackson dans “This is it” et, oui, pour finir un cycliste du tour.

Particularly love your cyclist. It is a great race, that’s for sure (though on in the middle of the night in Australia – highlights on the news). My Dad is a big fan and loves to explain the tactics they use – I just thought they rode fast but No there’s much more to it, apparently. I love the scenic route – the winding roads 🙂
There is always much more in any sport…but I am never interested to watch, I don’t really know why.

So yeah you’re asking about the way I draw. No I don’t really use any construction lines or what-so-ever. I simply just look at the picture from my teeny-tiny laptop(10inch), but if I do have the actually picture in my hand it’d be better but usually I don’t.
I basically just get the rough shape, and start shading and refining from there. First the eyes, nose and the mouth, and then the face, ears, and hair, and finally clothing and accessories… and I usually like to work from left to right, but when I do 2 characters, I split my steps because the part where I do the shading on the faces is very crucial, if they are not the right size, it’d be too messy to erase the the entire half of the drawing, might as well draw another one. Which I actually did for the drawing of the two girls because I didn’t like the proportion.
I didn’t write all these because it’d be too long and boring to read, that’s why I just showed them instead. Besides, my steps aren’t even formal, and I am pretty sure there’s a “RIGHT” way to do it…probably being taught by a college professor or something ^^ I hope that helps and thank you again for following.

Ah, tu assures trop sur les portraits!! (faut que je m’entraîne davantage!). Je ne savais pas qu’on pouvais dessiner avec l’ipod touch, je suis larguée ou quoi?! (heureusement ma fille me force à rester à peut près à flot…)

le i-pod touch c’est vraiment très marrant a utiliser et tres portable, pratique.
Le tour de France est retransmis ici en direct le matin et en reprise en soirée , pratique. Si c’était en aprem, je ne pense pas que je regarderais.
