Childhood

Childhood was the October theme for il studio . French and Belgian comic book characters. From left to right: Babar, Obelix, Asterix, Gaston’s laughing seagull, Tintin, Capitaine Hadock, Gaston (sleeping), Lucky Luke (with no cigarette as per the law asked), Jolly Jumper (the horse), le petit Nicolas, Rantanplan , Gaston’s cat, Bill (the dog), Boule (the little boy) and Milou (Snowy). I still read them with pleasure.

Enfance, le thème d’octobre au studio. Si vous ne les reconnaissez , de gauche a droite, Babar, obelix, Asterix, la mouette rieuse de Gaston, Tintin, Capitaine Hadock, Gaston faisant la sieste, Lucky Luke sans sa cigarette tel que demandé par la loi, Jolly Jumper son fidèle compagnon, Le petit Nicolas, Rantanplan, le chat de Gaston, Bill le cocker, Boule et Milou. Je les lis encore avec plaisir.

Soaked in gold

A perfect day. Lapiz lazuli sky, stained glass of  leaves, walking and being soaked in gold light.

Une journée parfaite. Le ciel  lapiz lazuli, les vitraux de feuilles, je marche et je m’imbibe d’or.

Like a runner likes to run,

Like a runner likes to run I like to draw. The act of drawing;  acknowledging  this made me draw more, draw without questions. I draw from magazines, from tv, from real, from imagination. It does not matter anymore where it is as long as it  catches my eye.

J’aime dessiner, comme un coureur aime courir. L’acte de dessiner; et le reconnaissant cela m’a permis de dessiner sans questionnement. Je dessine d’après des magazines,  la télé, du réel, d’imagination. La source n’est plus importante maintenant si mon oeil y est attiré.

Looking for the English equivalent of  ” passe-muraille” I found: a theater in Toronto , a book by Marcel Aymé and a film from the book, but no good translation,” The walker-through-walls”  sounds a bit long.

La traduction est un art difficile si non impossible. J’ai entendu “traduction=trahison”. Comment rendre l’athmosphère évoquée par “le passe-muraille” sans avoir à expliquer le livre, le film…

When a pumpkin is equivalent to a cabbage : “Good night Pumpkin” could be translated in French by “Bonne nuit mon Chou”.

Equivalence potagère, un chou est égal à une citrouille: “Bonne nuit mon Chou” donne en anglais “Good night Pumpkin”

Starting a third year, and eye still love two blog.

Une charade, comme dans les papillottes a Noel, qui donne en français, j’aime bloguer, ou blaguer.

The other side of wilted bouquet, in my sketchbook led to this man.

L’autre coté, dans mon carnet de dessin du bouquet fané a donné cet homme.

Ratatouille and clafouti

Clafouti

Every non- French kid knows now what’s a ratatouille, thanks to a cute little rat who loves to cook. So I am suggesting Clafouti as a name for an other hero.  A funny name of a simple, easy  and delicious desert. If instructions are not clear, it is basically a  batter over fruits, and baked in the oven. The traditional one is from Limousin and with cherries.

EDM challenge: draw a  favorite recipe

Grace a un mignon petit rat, fou de cuisine, tous les enfants non-Français savent maintenant ce qu’est une ratatouille. J’aimerais proposer comme nom pour un autre héros, Clafoutis. Un nom tout aussi rigolo d’un dessert facile et délicieux. Si la recette est difficile à lire, c’est en fait une pate comme pour les crêpes sur des fruits et cuit au four. Le traditionel est du Limousin et ce fait avec des cerises.
