Une journée parfaite. Le ciel  lapiz lazuli, les vitraux de feuilles, je marche et je m’imbibe d’or.

Liberating left hand

While drawing with my left hand this morning, I realized that it had a liberating effect on me. Maybe being less demanding for the final result because, after all they were drawn with the left hand. I like these drawings, a bit awkward , may I say gauche, they touch me. The 2nd portrait made with my dominant hand don’t have the same effect on me. It is very simple, I have to draw with my right hand fooling my mind in letting it think it is my left hand.

En dessinant de la main gauche ce matin, je me suis rendue compte que c’était trés libérateur. Ne pas trop attendre du résultat final, je dessinais de la main gauche après tout. J’aime beaucoup ces dessins, un peu maladroit, on peut même dire un peu gauche, mais ils me touchent. Le 2e portrait fait de ma main droite dominante n’a pas cet effet sur moi.  Alors c’est très simple, je dois dessiner de la main droite en laissant croire à mon esprit que c’est ma main gauche.

SketchCrawl in Montreal

When I saw that a Worldwide SchetchCrawl was going to be in Montreal I did not think for a minute, I just went. The meeting place was 11 am. on July 11, in front of Notre-Dame basilica in old Montreal. I did not see other sketchers…luckily my son joined me with some friends and we did sketch together. It was really nice, something to do regularly, and maybe next time we will meet other sketchers.

Quand j’ai vu qu’un “worldwide ScetchCrawl aurait lieu a Montréal, je n’ai pas hésité, j’y suis allée. Le rendez-vous était à 11h. du matin, le 11 juillet devant la basilique Notre-Dame dans le vieux Montréal. Dommage,je n’ai vu personne… heureusement mon fils est venu avec des amis et nous avons dessiné ensemble. C’était trés agréable, quelquechose à refaire régilièrement et peut-être la prochaine fois on rencontrera d’autres sketcheurs.

Rainy June

June, so far, is like May, rain, wind, cold… and I keep drawing outside regularly. After cars I tried a school bus, and also people while waiting.

Juin est comme Mai, pluie vent et froid… et je continue à dessiner dehors regulièrement. Après les voitures j’ai essayé un autobus scolaire et des gens qui attendaient avec moi.

Drawn with the left hand.   Dessinés de la main gauche.

Why bother drawing with the left hand, when it is so hard doing it with the right one?  It brings me back to the basics, having the hand follow the eye, in a reflex mode. Sometimes the eye is surprise to see the hand going elsewhere.

Pourquoi se compliquer la vie en dessinant de la main gauche? Cela me remets en mémoire les bases: la main doit suivre l’oeil, comme dans un réflexe. Et quelquefois l’oeil est surpris de voir la main partir d’un tout autre coté.
