Bread is a staple food for us. A must at every meal, most of the time it is baguette, with a golden and crispy crust and ” une mie alvéolée”. In the dictionary I found for “mie” bread without the crust and honeycombed for “alvéolé”…shows that bread is a French obsession. I really miss the taste of the country bread we used to have at my grand parents place. Un pain au levain, a sourdough bread. It is harder to find now so I am starting my own starter, and if successful will try a bread.
And all of this because of the EDM challenge #232: Draw the last thing you bought, it was a baguette, of course.

Looks really yummy! I really like them when they’re just out of the oven, smells so good and having it warm in the hands…. and spreading butter onto it and watching it melt….niceeee!!

thank you Alex. Are you a bread baker, describing so well the aroma, the look, the pleasure with oven hot bread ?

No I am not. But I have an uncle who lives just right above a bakery and everytime I visited him, we’d go downstairs and get some really fresh and hot bread. It’s an awesome feeling
Oh yeah, by the way, I sent the softcopy to Dr. Dany, he liked it so much and he’s showing his wife and daughter. I am thinking of doing another one for him as a Christmas gift, since his birthday is around Christmas anyway. That’d probably be something I’m giving him last since I might be changing company within next year.. -___- sad sad

If I can get the starter to start and bake bread, I will let you know how easy it is…or not.
Very good thing that you gave the different steps of the portrait, it is always interesting to see and make a very special gift.

Miam!

I bake my own bread and buns all the time. It just tastes better! Good luck with using a starter – I haven’t tried that yet. This sketch is just wonderful.

Thanks Lynn, the starter is done, the first bread was not a success but I will keep trying.
